Taffy and KD in Hansel and Gretel, the ballet (February 23 - 27, 2021)

It was an exciting week!
Our new couch for downstairs showed up. . . 


And KD's long anticipated point shoes came too!


And what made it even better was the cousin Jane was over.
She's an amazing pointe dancer and helped KD know how to wear them and showed her some exercises to start doing.  It couldn't have been more perfect.




This weekend was Hi Light Dance's performance of Hansel and Great, the ballet.
KD was a fawn and Taffy was a flower.




They had 3 performances and did amazing!
Note to self - always take pictures before dropping them off to the first performance because then they are excited and full of energy.  If you wait til the middle or end, they just want out of those scratchy costumes!



KD was obliging for a few moments.



Afterwards, we took off to Grandpa Baird's favorite fast food place to celebrate.
These girls are a hoot.




Grandma came to the performance but brought flowers afterwards since, you know, Covid.
She has since had her vaccine and times will be a bit more normal probably soon.
We are glad the girls have been able to dance during this weird year!

Our first 4 square at the new house and Timo's Broadway concert February 22, 2021

For Family Home Evening we played 4 square in the tiny squares by the unfinished fire pit. There was a LOT of mud by the basketball court and we didn't want to deal with that.  Afterwards we read scriptures by the unfinished pool in the first warmth of the sun in February. Lately, Timo has talked for long periods of time with Caden when he calls. This evening, Timo showed off his new piano skills.  He's been practicing piano instead of video games to prepare for his mission.  Caden, Sarah and I were pretty impressed. After Timo showed his stuff, Caden sang us "Why Are There So Many Songs About Rainbows" while accompanying himself on the guitar.  It was an evening to remember. These are the best pics we get of Timo nowadays. This was before he left for his last choir concert in Chamber Choir. At the time, he didn't know it was his last one. Even though choir was a stressful subject this year,  it was so worth it to see him dancing and kicking in the chorus line. ...

2021 is the Year for Miracles

 Miracle #1 Timo got senior pics! It has been a STRUGGLE to get any kind of decent pics of Timo so far this school year. He started off the year with loooong hair.  If I can find a way to attach his school pic here I will.  It will give you a good laugh.  But no matter the hair length, he won't sit still or smile when the camera comes out.  Perhaps I will find all the attempts I've made and compile them in one post.   But for now, the amazing job Lindsey Nelson did at capturing Timo's smile will be saved forever here.
